The organisers of World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) have revealed that on Thursday 30th May the Taste of Travel programme will focus on the theme of health and wellbeing. Produced in association with Onboard Hospitality and sponsored this year by En Route, this year’s Taste of Travel will feature expert panels engaging in discussions around the challenges operators face in enhancing the passenger experience amidst the growing trend of health consciousness.

Attendees of the show are invited to rehydrate at WTCE’s Taste of Travel Theatre as the day’s sessions kick off with a premium breakfast service featuring sensational health drinks. The session will be run by Kelly Stevenson of Jetvine, together with Audrey Hart of Virgin Atlantic and Nathan Clemes, founder of Unrooted. While discussing the latest health trends important to passengers, Unrooted will serve their health drinks and tell attendees the story of Africa’s most legendary superfood — baobab.

Following this, chef Steve Walpole will moderate a session looking at culinary nutrition with Melissa Adamski, APD Travel Dietitian and Founder, Nutted Out Nutrition and Salim Hazif, Managing Director at Food Folk, plus Aaron Brudney of Biotiful and other special guests. This will see the panellists debate how nutrition can be a star factor leading to innovative catering success and how advanced culinary concepts can be applied onboard to elevate both the passenger experience and to help solve some of the travel industry’s most pressing issues.

In addition to his culinary nutrition session, legendary chef Steve Walpole will serve up his latest range of health foods for the audience to sample, alongside a free tasting of low-alcohol and wellness drinks with Kelly Stevenson of Jetvine.

As part of En Route’s Route to Innovation session, Marcus Nilsson and Richard Wake will be exploring the six key consumer trends set to impact the next 12 months and considering what this means for the industry. One such key trend that shows no signs of slowing down is the Health & Wellness trend; how does health and tech drive innovation and improve both customer satisfaction and operational efficiency? Why are passengers seeking vitality and balance, and in an era of moderation how can we adapt passenger solutions for those where consumers seek moderation rather than strict restrictions?

Located in Hall A1 at the Hamburg Messe from 28-30 May 2024, Taste of Travel will host a programme of educational sessions where live cooking demonstrations and tasting opportunities will also take place. All sessions are free to attend.
